Lumosity - Scientific Brain Training |
Wow, there is just so much clever out there, it’s really kind of amazing. This one is a brilliant and simple feedback model for performance reviews.
This is what I’ve been looking for. I’m So Game!
Level Up: Gamers Become Scientists By Competing To Design The Best RNA Molecules | Fast Company
EteRNA, the new project from the brains behind FoldIt, wants to create and study RNA molecules to help cure diseases. Turn out if you give a gamer a chance, they can design RNA molecules far better than any computer.
I’m rocking the Epson CX8400 - My home office inherited it from my girlfriend and it gets the job done - I’m not a hater.
So we start. Won’t print well in black, buy a black ink cartridge, turns out it’s the print heads that need cleaning. Clean, clean, whoops out of Yellow & Red Ink - Quite Frankly My Dear, I don’t give a damn - all I need is black… NOPE! Do not pass go do not collect $60.
It turns out I’ve got to purchase $60 of ink (Red & Yellow) that I don’t need to continue the print head cleaning cycle… Plus another 30 minutes to the office supply store and back. :-/ Oy

Once a week I meet with my Operations Director, affectionately referred to as the god-king of Operations by those who know him best: AKA Joel G. (god-king is a reference to the super villain in the video game “Infinity Blade” - because geeks who run small companies can make up their own creative job titiles… it’s a perk. ;-) )
Anywho, if I was superstitious, I might stop our weekly appointments, or change Joel’s title. Last week I decided to ride my bike to our meeting. On the way home I got a flat tire, and didn’t have the tool to change the tire. My Girlfriend, Nancy, had to come pick me up.
This week, I decided to drive, partly on account of my bike still having a flat (still looking for a good bike shop in Glendale, by the way). Was a bit distracted on the way home thinking about all the cool things we were working on. Parked a bit wonky - which apparently impeded someone’s driveway a bit, and received a parking ticket and got my auto towed for my lack of attention to detail. Girlfriend Nancy had to drive me to impound to pick my car up this morning. Now I have a long vendetta with parking tickets, but this is getting excessive and ridiculous.
So lets recap:
Monday Lunch w/ Joel —> Flat Tire —> Girlfriend saves the day
Monday Lunch w/ Joel —> Car Impounded and Parking Ticket —> Girlfriend saves the day again…
… :-/ —- … Oy.
-Joke-
Two atoms are walking down the street, and one says to the other, “Wait, wait, we have to go back. I’ve lost an electron somewhere.”
The second atom says, “Really? Are you sure?”
To which the first atom replies, “Yes. I’m positive.”
Because Economic news is way to serous this week.
NYC Lightsaber Battle
Several hundred Star Wars enthusiasts filled Washington Square to swing Light Sabers at each other and celebrate culture from a galaxy far, far away. See the full set of photos at Dave Bledsoe’s flickr.

I’m working with a friend of mine to build his IT business Logic ITC. To do so we sat down together to test the waters a bit by cold called for a few hours. Still a tough, tough way to market a product. It’s the ironman of emotional rejection training. Didn’t get a lot of appointments. He was calling truly cold prospects, where as I wash fishing in my warm market, so I had the pleasure of catching up with some old friends. He didn’t fair so well. :-(
I met some good people today as well and got to have lunch with my good friend Bryan Koch who is working on a new project management platform. As all days at the Coloft go, many good things came out of the day. We found a service on Elance that I think we’ll test out for lead generation. Also I was able to set up email from my LiveScribe smartpen, and I finally got around getting a project rolling for my virtual assistant. Moving forward with a trial of Redtail CRM - a CRM specifically designed for the Financial vertical, which I got to spend some time customizing today. Looks like Redtail is going to beat out Solve 360, Insight.ly, and ZoHo, the other primary contenders in this CRM race. The deciding factor was that Red tail is specific to the financial vertical, and has some features customized for my industry that I really like. If your interested Solve 360 was the runner up, and would be my choice for non financial professionals. Redtail could learn a lot from those folks, specifically Google Apps integration and Android Support to start.
I’m hoping to set up a facebook ad campaign and google adwords campaign before close of business… in 70 minutes… Later today I’ll hit the pool with the off season Ironteam training.
In other words, I got almost nothing done today. ;-)
